Summer heat, no picnics, barbecues or big celebrations. Today was a day full of combines, straw bails and feeding calf’s. As I looked across the field this afternoon with the realization that while most are celebrating and enjoying the Fourth of July while we’re working, I had to smile. What could be more American than a wheat field, kids with a hose and the July sun. We are blessed and thankful for those who keep us safe. We even got a chance to catch the fireworks tonight. We will keep working for the cheese on your burger and the ice cream filling your cone. Happy Fourth of July!

TIME IS NO LONGER MINE

My child: “Mom!!! I'm hungry, can I have a snack?” Me: “I just gave you a snack.” My child: “But I’m still hungry.” My child: “Mom!!! When is dad coming home?” Me: “He was just in for lunch it will be a while.” *Crash* Me: “Girls what fell?” My child: “Mom she broke the closet door again.” Seconds later... Me: “Get off the kitchen counter we just had lunch I'll get you a snack in a little bit.” Me:“Stop jumping on the sofa!!” Me: “Do not let the dog in he just ran though mud!!!” These our the conversations or things I say almost daily.         Yes my days are filled with breaking up fights, time outs, hugs, laughs, laundry, cleaning up spills, and the list goes on and on. I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s only  March and at times I’m counting down till they start chopping rye. Something about the excitement of that first harvest of the year makes us all a little excited and happier after a long the winter indoors. Yes, it m...
IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!      I can hardly believe there is only a few days left till Christmas. I had little hands that wanted to help decorate the house for Christmas this year. You can pretty much see our whole house with the exceptions of the bedrooms from our front door so It only takes a few minutes so put up some greens and things to make it look a little more festive. The girls loved helping and even though they are only 5 and 2 they had opinions of where they thought things needed to go. This made for a few laughs and a few reminders that the manger scene is not a toy, IT WILL BREAK! It made me think of my mom reminding my brothers of the same thing as they loaded Mary and Joseph in there toy tractor and wagons. There are a few pieces of her manger scene that are now glued on.     The girls loved making snow flakes out of coffee filters and the little one was a little surprised that all the little cuts she made when opened...

PEACE LIKE A RIVER

Do you really think getting an MRI is necessary? I mean, I feel fine lots of people have little growths on there liver and there usually nothing to worry about, and an MRI is expensive. Yes, you have three kids you are young and the ultrasound shows that it's big. I'm not quick to go overboard with test either but this time I think it's important. This was the conversation between me and the GI doctor several weeks ago. I agreed and two days later had an MRI. After having the MRI done I came home we all jumped in the car and headed for the state farm show, mamma needed a milk shake and some fried food.  We had a blast! The kids loved it, and we even snagged a close parking spot which trust me is a big deal at the farm show. On our way home my phone rang and I saw it was my family doctor, I knew if they were calling that fast with results something was off. The MRI showed this mass is really large and should be monitored. "How are you fe...
